On 2nd/3rd March
2002 the National Open Long Course Championships took place at
Tollcross. The COGST women were particularly successful taking 5
gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals with 5 other top six
places.
Holly Fox took 3
golds (200 fly, 200 IM, 400 IM) and Rebecca Cooke won 2 golds
(400 and 800 free) and a silver in the 400 IM. Jenny Clayton
took silver in the 200 fly and Bryony Fox won a pair of bronze
medals for the 400 and 800 free.
On her way to a
fifth place in the 50m fly and sixth in the 50m free, Katy
Taylor broke 5 Club Records over the meet in the 15/16 years age
group.
In the Youth Championships the outstanding
performer in the 11 years age group was Aileen Stirling winning
4 golds (200 free, 200 breast, 200 back and 200 IM), a silver
(400 free) and a bronze in the 100 fly. Chantal Carr was our
other medal winner taking 2 silver (200 and 400 free) and a
bronze in the 100 fly in the 12 years age group.
For the boys, Alasdair Reid won silver in the
100m butterfly in a new Club Record time of 01:10.82
