Womens 800 Freestyle Final
The question at the start of the
women's 800 freestyle was just how
fast could Laure
Manaudou go. Up against the world
bronze medallist City of Glasgow's Rebecca
Cooke,
Manaudou was ahead
at 200m and 300m but Cooke closed
up by the 400 mark to take the lead
at 450. Rebecca came home
first in
8:29.02.
“It was a really
positive swim for me to finish off the
meet,” said Cooke. “Things are going
well for me, I was pleased with the race
tonight and I know that if I can change the
odd thing during my race then I can go a lot
faster.
“I changed my tactics
tonight and they worked well. I knew
Manaudou would go out fast as she has a lot
of speed but I stayed with her until 400m
and then took control of the race.”
