Jamie Forrest Selected for GB Open Water Team(28 July 2005)

City of Glasgow's Jamie Forrest has been selected as part of the British team to compete in the LEN Open Water Cup competition. Jamie will be one of three swimmers representing GB this Sunday at Slovenia's Lake Bled in a 10 km race which will take around 2 hours to complete. The 10km distance is roughly the equivalent of the running marathon and is considered to be the most likely of the three international distances (the others being 5km and 25km) to be included in a future Olympic Games.

Hannah Miley Wins Silver at European Junior Championships(14 July 2005)

City of Glasgow’s Hannah Miley won silver for Great Britain tonight in the 400m Individual Medley on the opening day of the European Junior Championships in Budapest. The sixteen year old, one of six Scots included in the British team, set a new Scottish senior record time of 4:47.47, finishing behind Hungary’s Katinka Hosszto (4:45.88). The swim was faster than her time at the Speedo Scottish Open and Age Group Championships at Tollcross in Glasgow last month, where she achieved the nomination times for the Commonwealth Games. Clean sweep in 800m at nationals(1st July 2005)

City of Glasgow swept the board in the 800m Freestyle, with Olympian Rebecca Cooke won gold comfortably in a time of 8:38.08, followed by team mates Lorna Smith (8:59.58) and Hannah Miley (9:01.44).
