Child Protection

The club has 2 CPO officers:

Jude Austin (07976590432): This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
Alistair Stewart: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

The role of the club CPO:

  • Ensure all persons working with children & young people at the Club are fully aware of what is required of them within the protocols of the Policy / Code of Good Practice
  • Conduct the administrative work associated with processing information on new volunteers/staff
  • Liaise closely with Club volunteers/staff, ensuring that agreed procedures for the prevention of risk are followed
  • Counsel/advice the Club on matters of policy relating to Child Protection
  • Advise/circulate details of opportunities for volunteers/staff to undertake training
  • Act as the contact person on matters relating to Child Protection at the Club

All helpers in a Childcare role are required to complete a disclosure application at an Enhanced level. It seems administratively burdensome but it is essential that we follow best practice.

The quickest way to organise a disclosure check is to contact Jude or Alistair & arrange to meet up. Original copies of identification document must be seen by the CPO when processing disclosure forms

Disclosure Scotland requires 3 forms of Id to be seen. Forms of Id to be seen by CPO:

  • Birth certificate (1 of the best forms of Id but not essential)
  • Proof of address (at least 1 of the following list)
  • Bank statement
  • Utility bill
  • Credit card/store card
  • Financial statement
  • Pension or benefits book
  • Visa
  • Work permit
  • Driving licence
  • SQA Education letter
  • Correspondence from statutory bodies (benefits agency, government departments)
  • Photo Id (at least 1 of the following list)
  • Passport
  • Driving Licence
  • Work Photo Id Card
  • University Id Card
  • Young Scot Card

Notes: If you use your driving licence for Proof of Address, it cannot be used again as Photo Id & vice versa. Questions on the form which you may be unprepared for: NI Number, Electricity Supplier Number, Previous Disclosure Number, Passport Number, Driving Licence Number.
