| Night of Celebration for Scotland’s Swimming Community |

MC for the evening was TV and Radio sports journalist, Alison Walker, who led the audience in the IMAX theatre through citations, interviews and video footage, as well as reading a letter of support and congratulations from First Minister Alex Salmond. A number of athletes from Scotland’s aquatics team at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi were in attendance including our own Robbie Renwick and Mark Deans. Both of the City of Glasgow Boys won awards in recognition of their outstanding swimming last season Robbie’s 200m freestyle gold medal from the Commonwealth Games was celebrated as he was awarded the JY Coutts Award, for outstanding services to Scottish Swimming while Mark once again was the recipient of the Eian Prentice Memorial Award for outstanding performance in open water events for a junior athlete. A great evening was had by all who attended from the club, with the opportunity to win tickets to the Olympic Games in 2012 one of the great opportunities (unfortunately none of us did win!), as well as fabulous food and dancing. Next year’s dinner will be held once again in Glasgow on the 15th September, so here’s hoping we have plenty of Glasgow swimmers being recognised for their achievements in Olympic Year!!!
