Westhill Pool - 16-17 January 2016

A handful of Glasgow swimmers made the journey north to Westhill for the annual SAS Junior Meet.

Up and coming 15 year-old Joe Watt secured a double gold medal haul from his two swims in the boys 15 years age group. Watt, a Glasgow School of Sport athlete, won the 200 I.M. in 2:18.76 and the 400 Freestyle in a very well paced 4:12.33.

Lily-Jane Haggerty made the trip well worthwhile with a brace of silver medals in the girls 12 years section. A great swim in the 800 free of 10:00.93 dropped her lifetime best by 22 seconds and she followed this up with 2:38.21 in the 200 I.M.

Junior Performance West swimmer Abigail Cavanagh was in good form in the girls 13 years category. A big personal best in the 200 Backstroke (2:36.43) was enough to secure a well earned bronze medal. This was followed by further best swims in the 200 I.M. (2:42.73) and 200 Freestyle (2:22.64), whilst she was just outside her best in the 800 Freestyle (10:30.88).

Chris Perrett contested the boys 15 years 200 Butterfly and was pleased to record a new best time of 2:39.18.

Well done to these four swimmers!
